February 22, 2002 - Sydney's sole challenger in the 2002 V8 Supercar Championship, the Lansvale Racing Team has launched their new season V8 Supercar livery, sponsor and team line-up.

The well attended event was held at Sydney's Old Government House in Paramatta Park, featuring both new Lansvale Racing VX Commodores.

Network Ten Motorsport commentator Mark Oastler hosted the launch, welcoming the second season return of talented 28 year old driver Cameron McConville.

McConville is looking forward to more competitive performances during the grueling 13 round V8 Supercar Championship announced for 2002.

"The team has worked hard throughout the off-season to continue developing our VX Commodores and I am looking forward to racing strongly this season. It is going to be a very tough season and if we can race within the top twelve to fifteen on a consistent basis, better results will follow," McConville said.

The team's two Holden VX V8 Supercars were unveiled by the Lansvale Racing Team crew members, revealing a bold and agressive frontal design, thanks to the new Trafigura Fuel black 'Evolution 98 Octane' logo.

The side design retains the popular yellow, red and blue Lansvale Racing Team combination with striking side signage of three new team sponsors Rexel Electrical Products, Schneider Electric and Fuchs Lubricants.

The new sponsors are joined by PPG, McGrath Holden, Harvey Norman, Prix Max, Champion Spark Plugs, Warwick Fabrics, Auto Tek and team parent company Lansvale Smash Repairs.

Team owners Trevor Ashby and Steve Reed were delighted to welcome their new marketing partners to this team which has competed in every Touring Car / V8 Supercar series since 1986.

"We warmly welcome our new and current sponsors and look forward to a strong season ahead. It is with the help of all involved that we are able to compete at higher levels each season and our will be to make this season the best yet," Steve Reed said.

Reed and Ashby plan to return to the circuit for the endurance races (Queensland 500 and a record-extending 17th consecutive Bathurst 1000) this season.

The team is yet to announce Cameron McConville's endurance race co-driver for 2002.

The Lansvale Racing Team makes its 2002 V8 Supercar racing debut at the Fosters Australian Grand Prix support races from February 28 to March 3, followed by the start of the 2002 V8 Supercar Series on the streets of Adelaide during March 16 and 17. This is the first of thirteen Championship rounds to complete the series.
