In the first of the two 10-minute qualifying sessions, Mostert stormed to Race 21 pole with a 1m30.083s lap. That time was good enough to beat team-mate Mark Winterbottom by just over a tenth, the pair both jumping to the top of their last runs.

Jamie Whincup had an improved showing, grabbing third spot on the grid on the hard tyre, ahead of David Reynolds in another Prodrive Falcon.

Craig Lowndes and Andre Heimgartner rounded out the Top 6, making it an all Prodrive and Triple Eight affair at the top.

Jason Bright was the best of the non-PRA/T8 cars in P7, with Rick Kelly the best Nissan in eighth, Scott McLaughlin the best Volvo in ninth, and Will Davison the best Erebus entry in 11th.

Not much changed with a switch to the soft tyre. Once again Mostert was the man to beat, a stunning 1m28.958s earning him a second pole for the day.

Whincup was second fastest on the soft tyre, while Fabian Coulthard, who missed out on a Top 10 in the first session, was third fastest in the second.

Shane van Gisbergen was another big improver between sessions in P4, ahead of Reynolds and McLaughlin.

Winterbottom and Heimgartner both went backwards, qualifying eighth and ninth respectively, while Lowndes was just 12th fastest.
