Wilson fastest in qualifying
- drops to ninth in shootout.

Max Wilson in car 65 for Team Betta Electrical pulled out a scorching lap in Qualifying today to register the fastest time of 1:09.02.

Wilson started the day in near perfect conditions for the first practice session, however he could only manage 24th fastest with a time of 1:11.08, whereas his team mate Tony Longhurst recorded a very credible time of 1:10.28 placing him

5th fastest in the first session.

The second practice session proved only a marginal improvement for Wilson,

Recording a time of 1:10.64 placing him 19th fastest in the second practice session in a field of 36 starters.

Longhurst was 10th fastest in the second practice session with a time of 1:10.49.

Wilson took the bit between his teeth in qualifying, leaving his best run until just five minutes before the conclusion of the qualifying period, recording the fastest lap at 1:09.02 nudging out the Pirtek Falcon of Marcos Ambrose who recorded

A fastest time of 1:09.05.

Longhurst recorded a time of 1:09.90 just point 8 of a second behind his team mate, yet placing him in 29th position in qualifying.

The Top Ten Shootout was hotly contested seeing Marcos Ambrose reeling out

Possibly one of his best performances yet, recording an incredible time of just 1:08.81 to take out pole position for race one of 58 laps tomorrow.

I'm confident my performance will take me up to the front of the field tomorrow

Said Wilson, once I get used to the circuit as the race progresses and I can get into the rhythm, I know we can get the Team Betta cars mixing it with the leaders, he said.
