PALMER'S NEW VIPER – LINTOTT TO CONVERT

Originally scheduled to climb aboard Ray Lintott awesome Dodge Viper GTS for the Century Batteries Australian GT Production Car Championship, PROCAR Chairman Ross Palmer is now set to import a new car from the U.S.

Palmer is set to place an order through Lintott Sydney Chrysler dealerships to bring a new V10 8-litre Viper for GTP competition later in the year.

With Garry Waldon capturing the last three GTP race victories in the 1998 Championship, Palmer is confident the new car will bring him a greater chance of success.

"The initial plan was to run Ray's car from last year that went so well at Bathurst. Holden Special Vehicles is currently converting Ray's car to right hand drive, so we decided it would be better to import a new car for GTP," Palmer said.

"Having another Viper in the GTP Championship will no doubt provide a huge boost for Chrysler and for Ray's dealerships as well.

"This provides a great boost for the Chrysler marque and what it is trying to achieve on a world scale."

Palmer is hopeful of having a new car arrive in time for the later rounds of the GTP Championship before undergoing an extensive testing program prior to the end-of-season endurance races.

"We may be calling on Ray's experience with the car to ensure it is up to speed," Palmer said.

"His team proved at Bathurst last year that they could be a real front runner and they would probably have won the race last year but for a bit of bad luck.

"I really can't wait for the new car to arrive, the GTP action is really hotting up and I can't wait to get amongst the action."
