Jack Daniel’s Racing duo Rick and Todd Kelly head to Queensland Raceway for the Coates Hire Ipswich 300 this weekend, confident of a strong performance.
This ninth event of the 2012 V8 Supercar Championship is the team’s second visit to the sunshine state in three weeks, with the last round held on the Townsville street circuit.
“I am looking forward to Queensland Raceway and having a solid run," told Todd Kelly. "We showed good pace at Townville with a couple of top ten finishes in the practice sessions and I am confident we will carry that momentum to Queensland Raceway and get some valuable Championship points."
After showing signs of good speed at Townsville, with Rick and Todd consistently in the top-ten throughout practice and Rick finishing eighth in race fourteen of the Championship, the Jack Daniel’s team is looking forward to a solid result at the resurfaced Ipswich circuit.
“While race fifteen in Townsville was disappointing due to the puncture, once we got on the new tires our pace was similar to the leaders and the car managed its tires well," Rick Kelly said."I had a good run at Queensland Raceway last year and am looking forward to more of the same this year.”
At Queensland Raceway last year Rick Kelly qualified third for Saturday’s two races and finished fourth in each.
With the V8 Supercar Championship now entering the second half of the season, Todd sits 11th in the standings on 885 points, with Rick 14th on 844.
