RICK KELLY TO MAKE WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT ON WEDNESDAY

V8 Supercar driver Rick Kelly will make his long-awaited attempt on the world land speed record for a jet-powered remote control vehicle.

Kelly will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record at a secret location on Wednesday with his Red Bull Mojet T40, which has been three years in the making.

The Red Bull Mojet T40 is powered by two jet engines, creating 40 pounds of thrust and is a replica of the Thrust SSC machine that set the World Land Speed Record in 1997.

26-year-old Kelly, who drives the #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore in the V8 Supercar Championship Series, is a two-time Bathurst winner and 2006 V8 Supercar champion.

He will make his 100th event start at the Falken Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston later this month, becoming the youngest driver in the 50-year history of the Australian Touring Car Championship to reach the milestone.
