Everything gets put well and truly into perspective when an accident like that happens.

Safety is obviously everyone’s first concern. It’s disheartening to see that happen, it’s an example of how The Mountain is sometimes, and how you have to show it such a large amount of respect – because it can bite.

For us, like everyone else, our thoughts are with Chaz Mostert and the marshals that have been involved.

Chaz is fast becoming one of the superstars of our sport, so we are definitely sending all of our collective thoughts in his direction for a speedy recovery.

We found out the hard way ourselves how solid the walls around Mount Panorama are yesterday.

Fortunately Jack Daniel’s Racing has the hardest working crew in pit-lane, and they managed to get the car back to brand new by 1am this morning.

It’s not the classic Bathurst all-nighter, but it’s a reasonable effort for a Thursday!

Today we discovered that we are still a bit behind the eight ball after missing the track time following yesterday’s accident, both myself with the driving aspect, and also just a little bit in the car tune as well.

We really had to dig deep to prepare ourselves for that qualifying session, which we made some good changes for.

We only did an out-lap and in-lap with the red flag, but I feel we’re in the rhythm now.

There’s still plenty of track time to do before we get to go racing on Sunday, so we’re not stressed.

For Dave Russell’s practice session, he ran some older tyres, so there was no stress there with his pace.

Overall, the Nissan camp are pretty happy campers, with Caruso and Todd both in the Top 10 in that final session.

We’ve still got our eyes on the prize on Sunday, there’s still a lot to go down before this Great Race is in the books!
