Ford Presents Australian V8 Super Car Championship On Supersport

The Ford Motor Company of South Africa has announced that it will be the title sponsor of the Australian V8 Supercar Championship highlights that will feature in High Octane Motorsport on Supersport with effect from 22h30 tonight.

"The Australian V8 Supercar Championship rates second only to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in the USA as far as TV ratings and international viewership is concerned, "said Neale Hill, Ford Marketing Manager. "Ford is heavily involved in the Australian series and we felt it appropriate to present highlights of this exciting form of saloon car racing on Supersport."

"We have no doubt that the Australian V8 Supercar Championship will become one of the most watched motorsport programmes on Supersport."

The 2004 Australian V8 Super Championship comprises thirteen events:
07 Mar Clipsal 500, Adelaide
04 Apr Eastern Creek Raceway
02 May NZ V8 International, Pukekohe Park Raceway
23 May Hidden Valley Raceway
13 Jun Barbagallo Raceway, Wanneroo
04 Jul Queensland Raceway
25 Jul Winton Motor Raceway
15 Aug Oran Park Raceway
12 Sep Sandown Park Raceway
10 Oct Bathurst 1000, Mt. Panorama
24 Oct Gold Coast Indy 300
14 Nov TBC
05 Dec Eastern Creek Raceway

Fifteen 52-minute highlights programmes will feature in High Octane Motorsport during 2004 including the legendary Bathurst 1000, which will be broadcast in two parts.

The Australian V8 Supercar Championship...presented by Ford kicks off on Supersport tonight with part one of the season opening Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, which was dominated by reigning champion Marcos Ambrose in the Pirtek Ford Falcon.
