BRIGHT 7TH IN OPENING SYMMONS PLAINS RACE

November 12, 2005 - Ford Performance Racing (FPR) driver Jason Bright raced to 7th in today's opening 50 lap race at Tasmania's Symmons Plains Raceway.

The first of three races to decide the Championship round, Bright started the race from 8th on the grid after the top ten shoot out. This followed a stellar performance by the Victorian driver during the earlier qualifying session, when the CAT FPR Falcon was the second fastest V8 Supercar in qualifying.

Ford Credit FPV Falcon driver David Brabham finished today's race in 23rd place after starting from 17th. The UK based World Sportscar driver was competing in his first "solo" V8 Supercar round, using the 50 lap event to further his experience in V8 Supercar sprint racing.

The opening Symmons Plains race was held in cool and cloudy weather conditions and was won by Garth Tander ahead of Steven Richards and Rick Kelly.

#6 Jason Bright - "We didn't get the balance quite right for the race and as a consequence we struggled early and I was hit by at least four cars, which bent the steering. Despite this, we settled into a strong race pace but it wasn't what the car was capable of due to the steering damage. We know that we have a very fast car here and I'm looking forward to proving this in the races ahead."

#5 David Brabham - "I didn't get the best of starts as I haven't done too many standing starts in these cars, so I didn't start too well and found myself boxed out of the corners during the opening laps. I was trying to get into a rythym during the race and I made a few mistakes, but after the pit stop it all settled down and I was enjoying the dice with Murphy and Seton. What an educational experience that race was!"

FPR Motorsport Director, Tim Edwards - "We are pleased with our strong performance today in qualifying and our solid run in the race with both cars.We are confident of making further improvements to both cars further for tomorrow."

FPR returns to Symmons Plains Raceway tomorrow for the remaining two V8 Supercar races at 12:20pm and 3:20pm.
