TOUGH AND TIGHT SYMMONS PLAINS AWAITS WPS/WOW RACING

WPS/WOW Racing drivers Max Wilson and Jason Bargwanna are gearing up for a tough affair in the Falken Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania this weekend.

The Apple Isle round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series is usually a treacherous event for drivers and teams, with the tight Symmons Plains layout offering close and tough racing for the passionate Tasmanian supporters.

Wilson and Bargwanna thrive on the close competition offered by the 2.4-kilometre circuit. Corners such as the ultra-tight Symmons Plains hairpin offer a prime passing opportunity for drivers, but also mark a point of caution at the start of each race as teams look to maximise points scoring opportunities at this late point in the season.

Bargwanna and Wilson are looking to bring the Gold Coast-based team its fourth-straight top 10 round result in Tasmania, continuing a run of form for the squad in this hectic final part of the season.

The run to the finish began with seventh place at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 for Wilson and Bargwanna, followed by 10th and 11th respectively at the team's home event at the Lexmark Indy 300 on the Gold Coast.

With Bargwanna netting 10th place overall at the latest round at the Bahrain International Circuit earlier this month, WPS/WOW Racing is out to put it's best foot forward this weekend in Tasmania.

WHAT THE TEAM HAS TO SAY ...

Max Wilson -- #8 WOW Racing Falcon

"There are only two rounds remaining this year so I really want to finsh the season with some good results," said Wilson.

"We continue to improve the WOW car. We have the right direction so we've just got to translate that into good results this weekend.

"Symmons Plains is a short track with both fast and slow sections. You have to really be on top of your game in qualifying because the times are always very close.

"If you can qualify in the front half of the field it makes scoring points in the races a lot easier, so the aim is to be close to the pace in qualifying and work from there."

Jason Bargwanna -- #10 WPS Racing Falcon

"We're on a bit of a roll at the moment after a couple of good results," said Bargwanna.

"We are all hoping to continue that this weekend. The boys have been working hard so I really want to continue to reward their efforts with good results.

"Symmons Plains is a circuit I've always enjoyed competing at and I've had some good runs there in the past.

"The back straight is very fast but you also have to use the brakes very hard for the slow corners.

"We've made a lot of improvements to our cars and I think we're in good shape. If you have a car with good braking performance and that looks after it's tyres you will do well this weekend."

Craig Gore -- WPS/WOW Racing Team Owner

"The crew has been putting in a massive amount of effort in this busy part of the season and with our current results the mood is very good heading into Tasmania," said Gore.

"Symmons Plains is a tough little track and the local fans really get behind the racing. We have been getting our cars up the order closer to where we want to be, so we are looking to continue that this weekend.

"With two rounds remaining everyone is keen to finish the season on a high. Bargs and Max are as determined as ever to score points and get the results on the board."
