Tony D'Alberto uses biodiesel in support vehicles

TONY D'ALBERTO AND ROD NASH RACING HIT THE ROAD WITH CLEAN, GREEN BIODIESEL

Tony D'Alberto and Rod Nash Racing are championing environmental practices through a unique partnership with BioMax, a Victorian producer of quality biodiesel. BioMax is fuelling the team truck, which transports the car and equipment to each V8 Supercar Championship Series event.

In a first for Tony D'Alberto and Rod Nash Racing, the Holden Commodore VE is being towed behind a prime mover and 45-foot trailer fuelled by BioMax B20 Biodiesel, a blend of 20 per cent biodiesel and conventional sulphur diesel. The team's commitment is in keeping with the Championship Series' 'V8 Racing Green' program, which offsets carbon emissions to reduce its impact on the environment.

Tony D'Alberto, driver for Rod Nash Racing, said the team was leading the way by adopting biodiesel for its support vehicle.

"This is just one way we can manage our carbon footprint. Over the course of the year, our transport vehicle will travel more than 50,000 kilometres. By converting to BioMax B20 biodiesel, we'll be able to save 15 per cent on CO2 emissions, which amounts to around 7,000 kilograms," said Tony D'Alberto.

Biodiesel is a clean burning alternative fuel manufactured to Australian diesel standards from domestic, renewable resources and can be mixed with regular petroleum diesel in varying proportions to produce environmentally-friendly biodiesel blends. BioMax's biodiesel is produced at its purpose-built facility in Victoria from animal fats, canola oil and used cooking oil and meets all Australian Biodiesel and Petroleum Diesel Standards.

Peter Edwards, managing director of BioMax's parent company, The Victor Smorgon Group, said a number of commercial transport companies had made the switch to biodiesel.

"Biodiesel functions in the engine much the same way as petroleum diesel maintaining vehicle performance, payload capacity and distance range," said Mr Edwards.

"BioMax's sponsorship of Tony and Rod Nash Racing gives us great exposure to the motorsport industry and V8 enthusiasts. The team's use of our biodiesel is a big green 'thumbs up' to the fuel's quality and environmental benefits," he added.
