Triple F Racing Winton Event Summary

Winton was a weekend that Dean Fiore and his Triple F Racing crew would rather forget, plagued with racing incidents and team error.

The team mistakenly left the qualifying set up in the rear of the car for Saturday's race, which meant Dean had a rocket for a handful of laps, followed by a V8 Supercar that destroyed its tyres for the remainder of the 40 lap race. Also compounding the issue was a knock at the start of the race that put the steering and tow out on the #12 Falcon. Dean did a considerable job to be able to bring the car home in 25th position.

Dean managed to qualify in 23rd position on Sunday, only 9 tenths off pole, before a bad start in the race put him back further down the pack. After managing to avoid most of the carnage on the opening laps, Dean was travelling strongly in 15th position before the car started to push and under steer heavily which resulted in ruining the front tyres. A hit at the first corner on lap 1 resulted in Dean losing all vision from his mirrors, where he couldn't see anyone coming up the inside to make a pass. This ended his race prematurely where he collected an innocent Karl Reindler, and broke the steering on the Triple F Racing Falcon.

"It was a really disappointing weekend. It's really evident how close the championship is and how important every single thing is as it affects the total outcome of your performance.

"If you're not all over everything, you're not competitive and you get left behind. It puts an emphasis on the team as a whole, as it's not just the car or the driver or the engine, it's the entire package. And the mistakes we are making are affecting us too much," a deflated Dean said.

The team is determined to come back from the low encountered at Winton, with a test day scheduled for next Wednesday 1st June to alleviate the issues. Dean and the team look forward to using the test to ensure a stronger presence in Darwin in 3 weeks time.
