Melbourne's Kim Jane "Assassinates" the field in his 150th Race

Kim Jane lived up to his nickname "The Assassin" when he dealt a killer blow to all his rivals to win his 150th V8 Ute race at Sandown Raceway today (Sunday, 2nd August ) to claim Round 6 of the 2009 Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series – protected by Armor All.

Off the Race 3 start, Jack "The Hustler" Elsegood made contact with George Miedecke who missed a gear and which caused Miedecke to spin and turn Layton Crambrook around. Grant Johnson and Charlie Kovacs were also involved with Kovacs car also suffering terminal damage. While Elsegood was given a drive through penalty, Jane's

Bob Jane T Marts/Trading Post Holden continued the attack and moved into second behind South Australian Gary Baxter.

Baxter had a good lead until he went agricultural in turn 1 on lap 3 due to engine failure. Jane saw his opportunity and went on to a flawless win.

Both Baxter and Miedecke were unable to finish the race along with Grant Johnson who had front end failure after contact with Paul Williams.

Queensland's Kurt Wimmer drove hard to come home in second for the Race and the round and Ryal Harris did the same for third giving Holden a trifecta for the weekend.

It was a good result for Craig Dontas, Brad Patton, Ben Kavich, Nandi Kiss, Andrew Fisher, Yanis Derums and Scott Jennings who rounded out the top ten for Race 3.

A Stewards enquiry is pending following an incident with Gary Carson and George Elliot.

Stephen Robinson was forced to sit-out for Race 3 due to an incident with Glenn McNally in Race 2, which caused Robinson's car to roll in turn 1.

The Race was deemed a race because more than 2 laps were completed but because 75% of the race wasn't achieved no points were issued.

After a check with the medical team, Robinson is in good health and following a stewards hearing McNally was penalised with exclusion from Race 3 and a severe cash fine.

Layton Crambrook was fined 20 Championship Points after an incident with Jack Elsegood in Race 2 which caused the new championship leader (after Race 1) to drop back10 points behind Elsegood who regained the series lead.

Western Australian driver, Allan Letcher was awarded the SS Inductions Hard Charger Award and $500 for passing 12 Utes in Race 3.

Ryal Harris also picked up the CI Performance Hole Shot Award and $500 for the best Race Start in Race 2. Rookie Jason Gomersall went home with the Armor All Best Presented Award.
