REINDLER: QUALIFYING FIFTH LIFTED THE WEIGHT
Experiencing a horror smash like the one Karl Reindler endured at Perth earlier this year would affect anyone, but the 26-year-old says today's career-best qualifying has healed him.
The Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing driver, who started fifth today at Queensland Raceway, backed it up with a ninth-place finish in the first of two 22-lap races.
On lap three of the day's second race, however, Alex Davison spoilt Reindler's dream run, turning him around and causing a pile-up.
Reindler pitted for new tyres and regained eight places to finish 16th by the chequered flag.
Qualifying for tomorrow's race starts at 11.20am.

"It's exactly what I needed for my confidence. Ever since Perth my confidence has been creeping back up but it was definitely dinted. It's only human to have doubts and questions after a crash like that but qualifying fifth today has lifted a weight off my shoulders.
"In the race we were fairly happy with the pace. It was nice to be up the front. I think the racing is more respectful.
"In the second race, to be blatantly turned around by Alex Davison was disappointing but to finish 16th again was a huge recovery. I think the team is pretty happy going into tomorrow."
