Team IntaRacing inside top 12 for Winton practice

Team IntaRacing has finished in 12th place during today's combined practice sessions for the fifth and sixth races of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship, with Marcus Marshall adapting well to the new tyre compound to be used in this weekend's event at Winton Motor Raceway. After starting the day inside the top 5, Marshall used the second practice session to test a number of settings on his #77 Falcon. Electing to use the option tyres in the day's final session, the team completed 20 laps, obtaining useful data relating to the softer compound's grip levels and potential race pace.

"The new tyre is awesome," Marshall said, "I've got a smile from ear to ear as it is so much fun."

"We tried a lot of different settings in the second session and then in the final session we put on the new grippier tyres and got some solid data so tonight we can work out a strategy as if we use the tyres for Saturday or Sunday's race.

"I'm really happy with how the car reacted throughout each session and I think that we could have went a bit faster as I got stuck in traffic a lot in the third session as there were a few cars out there without the new tyres on. Overall, I think we have a great package for tomorrow and will hopefully finish inside the top 10," he said.

Team IntaRacing Manager, Keith Evers said the day provided the team with a lot of additional data and a good confidence boost ahead of tomorrow's qualifying and 33-lap race.

"Being a new team we've never had a chance to test things in-depth and in the second practice session today we were able to test things like springs which should help us a lot over the weekend," Evers said.

"In the third session we went straight out on the new tyre and, being the first time we have experienced the softer compound, we stayed on track for 20 laps to obtain some data on how it will re-act in a race scenario."Overall, I am reasonably happy with how things went today and think we have got a good car for qualifying," he concluded.

Qualifying for the fifth race of the 2009 V8 Supercar Series will take place at 11am tomorrow before racing gets underway at 3.30pm.
