Retro liveries have been revealed for both Nissan’s Dale Wood and LD Motorsport’s Nick Percat ahead of this weekend’s Heritage themed Sandown 500.

Wood’s Nissan Altima will carry a NASCAR-inspired livery, a throwback to the day when his main sponsor GB Galvanizing was part of the NASCAR/AUSCAR scene at the Thunderdome in Melbourne.
"This livery takes us back to circa 1997 when GB had it’s very first stint stint at sponsoring a race car,” said GB Galvanizing’s Gian Gucciardo.
"We came across the opportunity quite by chance, and at the time knew little about NASCAR, but were quickly drawn in by the excitement and closeness of the racing.
“An opportunity to get our company name out into the public domain in a way that none of our competitors had done, and the fact that it was telecast was the real lure. It was always cool to see our original 1980s GB ‘The Rust Busters’ logo sprawled on the bonnet of a race car under lights.”
Percat, meanwhile, will run a Speedway-inspired livery on his #222 LD Motorsport Commodore, using the same logo that major backer Phil Munday used when he started his panel beating business back in 1977.
“This was my very first company logo! It’s hard to believe it was almost 40 years ago,” said Munday.
“It’s great to have a retro round where everyone has the chance to show off their old school designs!”
