WPS/WOW Racing names Denyer for Enduro events

WPS/WOW Racing has today announced the signing of Grant Denyer to drive with the team at this year's V8 Supercar endurance events at Sandown and Bathurst.

Arguably Australia's highest profile racing driver, Denyer will complete the Gold Coast-based team's endurance driver line-up, joining Michael Caruso and the regular drivers Max Wilson and Jason Bargwanna.

The driver pairings for the #8 WOW Racing Falcon and #10 WPS Racing Falcon are still to be decided and will be announced at a later date.

Denyer got his first taste of the team's cars today at Queensland Raceway, where WPS/WOW Racing is testing both its cars and all four drivers ahead of Round 7 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

Denyer and Caruso, who are team-mates with Ford Rising Stars Racing in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series, will also be competing at Queensland Raceway on July 20-22 in Round 4 of that championship.

Denyer is best known to fans for his thriving television career with the Seven Network, having served as weatherman for hit breakfast program Sunrise and daredevil host of Guinness World Records, champion of Dancing with the Stars and currently host of ratings successes Australia's Got Talent and It Takes Two.

Denyer is also a member of Seven's V8 Supercar telecast team, but the 29-year-old's accomplishments on the race track are what have secured his place in WPS/WOW Racing's strong 2007 endurance driver line-up.

Denyer scored a top 10 finish when paired with Alex Davison in his Bathurst debut last year, finishing ninth to back up a strong 14th place finish at the Sandown 500 one month earlier. Denyer was ninth in last year's Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series standings.

Denyer scored his first V8 Supercar podium in the 2005 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at the Mallala circuit near Adelaide, South Australia and also has a best qualifying performance of fourth.

Denyer began his motorsport career at the age of 15 racing karts, performing well in the highest level of that form of motorsport. Denyer then moved into the V8 Utes category, where in 2004 he was crowned the Summer Series champion before moving into V8 Supercars in 2005 in the second-tier Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.

You don't win championships in V8 Utes and score podiums in Fujitsu Series by accident and last year at Bathurst he cast aside any doubters by finishing in the top 10 on his Bathurst debut.

"Bathurst is one of the toughest races in the world, so to finish in the top 10 at such a daunting race track in your first Bathurst 1000 really speaks for itself.
