Circuit of Galway Classic Car Trial set

Galway Motor Club has announced plans for it's first ever "Retro" event, to be known as The Circuit of Galway Classic car trial. It will take place on April 15th and 16th 2000, and will primarily cater for cars registered before 1976. More modern vehicles can take part also. Galway Motor Club was formed in 1960 and this year celebrates 40 years of motorsport,

The base for the event will be the Quality Hotel, Oranmore, Co. Galway. The route will contain five Selectives, timed to the second, one in darkness. It is also planned to include seven Regularity sections and nine Autotests.

This style of event is new to Galway and will bring memories of classic, pre-1976 cars to those who view the contestants along the route. The Provisional Timetable is

<pre> Leg 1 : Start Saturday 15th at Oranmore 12.01 hours Regularity 1 ( Craughwell - Kilreekill ) 12.15 Selective 1 - 2.5 miles - near Kilreekill 13.00 Test 1 at Loughrea Lake Car Park 13.20 Selective 2 - a revised version of selective 1 @ 13.45 Tests 2 and 3 at Loughrea Lake Car Park 14.00 Regularity 2 ( Masonbrook - Tynagh ) 15.00 Regularity 3 ( Tynagh - Duniry ) 15.45 Regularity 4 ( Dalystown - Loughrea ) 16.15 Test 4 ( Saddlers Restaurant Loughrea ) 17.45 Finish Leg 1 at Saddlers Loughrea 18.00

Leg 2 : The night section in Loughrea - Peterswell - Gort - Ardrahan Areas - including Selective 3 - starts from Saddlers at 21.01 Finishes at Oranmore at 23.00
