Jean Pierre Beltoise gives the Matra-BRM M620 its first victory with a win in a sports car race at Magny-Cours, France (1966).

Mark Donohue clinches the United States Road Racing Championship when he drives the Sunoco Lola T70 to victory at Kent Washington, USA (1967).

USAC and the SCCA co-sanction the Kiwanis Grand Prix at Riverside, California, USA. The race is won by Richie Ginther in a Ferrari (1959).

The SCCA Formula A Continental Championship race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, USA, is won by Tony Adamowicz driving an Eagle-Chevy (1969).

Malcolme Campbell sets a Land Speed Record of 150.76 mph in a Sunbeam at Pendine, Wales (1925).

July 22
Niki Lauda wins the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch in a McLaren MP4/2-TAG (1984).

July 23
Larry Whiting, driving an MG TD, wins the first race through the streets of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, USA. It is a race for novices in cars with engines smaller than 1500cc (1950).
