Highlighting the accomplishments of Goodyear engineers and Goodyear-equipped racers

Aug. 9, 1986 -- Al Unser Jr. wins both the race and the International Race of Champions title at Watkins Glen International.

Aug. 10, 1985 -- Harry Gant wins the race and clinches the season International Race of Champions title while racing on Goodyear tires.

Aug. 11, 1984 -- Doug Wolfgang, racing on Goodyear tires, wins the Knoxville Nationals sprint car race at Knoxville Raceway. On the same day, Neil Bonnett takes the victory in International Race of Champions competition at Michigan International Speedway. Cale Yarborough clinches the championship.

Aug. 13, 1983 -- Sammy Swindell wins the Knoxville Nationals sprint car race at Knoxville Raceway.

Aug. 13, 1988 -- Steve Kinser wins his third straight Knoxville Nationals sprint car race.

Aug. 13, 1995 -- Dyson Racing dominates round eight of the IMSA World Sportscar Championship series at Mosport. Andy Wallace, James Weaver, Rob Dyson and John Paul Jr. drive the winning Riley&Scott Ford MkIII after Weaver turns the fastest time in time trials.

Aug. 14, 1999 -- Goodyear wins its 18th straight Knoxville Nationals title as Mark Kinser finishes first.

Aug. 15, 1974 -- Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Jean-Pierre Jarier crush the opposition in a World Manufacturers Championship race at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. Co-driving their Goodyear-equipped Matra-Simca 670C, they the 750 kilometer race win by three laps.

Aug. 15, 1982 -- Goodyear takes its first victory in the Knoxville Nationals when Steve Kinser wins at Knoxville Raceway. It is the first of 18 straight wins for Goodyear in sprint car racing's most prestigious race.

Aug. 15, 1992 -- Ten years to the day after winning Goodyear's first victory in the Knoxville Nationals, Steve Kinser wins the race again with Goodyear.

Aug. 15, 1998 -- Danny Lasoski wins the Knoxville Nationals.
