After SS 9 Final Stage

As the competitors head over the finish ramp at Randles Nissan Garage at the end of the 2003 Killarney Historic Rally, British Historic Rally champions Steve Perez & Peter Scott have posted their first Irish victory. Having taken the lead on Stage 2, they drove consistently without any problems to gain ultimate honors by 2mins.18secs. Previous champion Dessie Nutt with Liz Jordan co-driving has had to be content with 2nd place having had to deal with gear problems throughtout the event and power draining from the engine due to the extra lights as the stage ran in darkness. Adrian Kermode/John Coleman in Porsche took 3rd place. It was a Porsche top 3, a further 2 mins adrift.

Leading the Post Historic category from the off was John Farrell in an Escort, co-driven by his brother Christy, but experienced continuous misfiring throughout the last stage, and was beaten into 2nd place by first time visitor Nick Whale & Kieron Patterson who had been 2nd place since early in the day in the Porsche 911. Joe Connolly & Garth Connelly also in an Escort took the 3rd place on the podium.

Winner on two previous occasions, John Moynihan with Killarney's Paul Nagle had a superb run in the Ford Escort from start to finish to take the Classic honours. With the legendary Jimmy McCrea & Campbell Roy having to park up approx. 1 mile from the stage end, leading localman Kevin O'Donoghue & Joe O'Leary in another Escort took a fantastic 2nd place, having had to contend with 2 punctures on Molls Gap earlier in the day. Belfastman Kieran O'Neill with Killarneyman Diarmuid Falvey took 3rd place.
