Sprint Vintage Grand Prix Sets the Stage for 2004 Race Season

DUBLIN, Ohio (June 14, 2004) - The 43rd season of racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio comes in with a roar at the Sprint Vintage Grand Prix, June 18-20.

The Sprint Vintage Grand Prix is a three-day event celebrating motorsports history. Over 50 years of racing excellence will be featured. Included in the celebration are open-wheel and open-cockpit cars, classic tin tops, and everything in between.

As the featured marque of the 2004 Sprint Vintage Grand Prix, Jaguar will be the highlight of many weekend activities. The annual Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, June 20 will be a main attraction of Jaguar owners and fans alike. Included in this classic car show, open to all makes and models, will be the all-Jaguar display, located on Mid-Ohio's Championship Row.

Another popular off-track activity includes the 6th Annual British Car Showdown on Saturday, June 19. A showcase for the most popular cars from the United Kingdom, Aston Martin, Lotus, Rolls Royce, and of course, Jaguar will all be present. Included in the car showdown are awards for "People's Choice", "Best Jaguar", and "Best of Show".

All participants in either car show are eligible to participate in a unique chance to view the 2.4-mile road course from the other side of the fence. During the lunch hour on the appropriate day, participants may take a parade lap around the track in their personal vehicles.

The weekend's action packed on-track schedule includes 9 SVRA group races, a HSR "BOSS" series race featuring vintage Formula One and Indy Cars, two Mike Stott/UBS Financial Enduro races, a Historic GTP race, a Klub Sport Challenge Feature Race, and an All-Jaguar Feature Race.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a 2.4-mile, 15-turn permanent road racing circuit in Lexington, Ohio. Located 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland near Mansfield, the track has been called the most competitive in the U.S. and annually hosts a diversity of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club, and professional riders and drivers. Mid-Ohio's 2004 schedule features seven spectator events, including the Sprint Vintage Grand Prix (June 18-20), American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio (June 25-27), AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days (July 16-18), Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire (July 23-25), Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic (August 6-8), Unlimited Audio and Accessories presents the Triple Crown Tuner Challenge (August 21-22) and SCCA National Championship Runoffs presented by Kohler (September 20-26).
