PADMORE RACING BACK IN TIME AT GOODWOOD REVIVAL

Reigate-based racing driver Nick Padmore will be stepping back into the past this weekend as the prestigious Goodwood Revival returns for its eleventh annual dose.

Padmore, who has a full-time campaign racing prototypes in the French V de V Championship, will race his privately-entered 1965 Mini Cooper S, which has enjoyed successful outings this season at the Masters Historic at Brands Hatch and the Silverstone Classic in July.

Saturday will see Padmore qualifying for Part 2 of the 25-minute St. Mary's Trophy which will take place on Sunday - in a meeting that hosts cars from the golden era of motorsport - the 1950's and 1960's - and is regarded as one of the world's most popular motorsport events.

Part 1 of the St. Mary's Trophy takes place on Saturday with a celebrity driver behind the wheel of the Mini, in the shape of former Formula One points scorer and 1970 Le Mans 24hrs winner, Richard Attwood. Also taking part in the race are renowned motorsport figures such as Tiff Needell, Derek Bell, Jochen Mass, and Jackie Oliver.

Briton Attwood has driven for the likes of BRM, Lotus and Cooper in a Formula One career that spanned five years, in tandem with successfully racing sportscars between 1964-1984. Arguably his greatest achievement though was when, in 1970, he lifted the most sought-after crown in sportscar racing - the Le Mans 24hrs - behind the wheel of the now-classic Porsche 917K.

"I'm ecstatic to be racing in the Goodwood Revival", commented Padmore. "We weren't sure whether we would get an entry until about ten days or so ago, so it's been manic getting everything sorted.

"The Revival is just a momentous event. I've been before but haven't had the opportunity to be invited to race until now so I can't wait to just be there. Historic racing is something I've always enjoyed being a part of, and just looking around some of the cars in the paddock will be amazing enough.

"Having Richard (Attwood) onboard for the Celebrity Race on Saturday is fantastic. He's been a friend of my Dad's for years - it only started off as a small joke to get him in the car for Goodwood, but now it's all in place and the Mini will have a bit more history attached to it!"
