July 12 - Luigi Storero wins race at Piacenza, Italy (1899).

- NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick born (1949).

- Nigel Mansell scores his 28 Formula One win at the British GP at Silverstone, putting himself third on the altime F1 win list and becomes the winningest British Grand Prix driver (1992).

July 13 - Enzo Ferrari, with mechanic Eugenio Siena, drives an Alfa Romeo RLSS to victory in the first Coppa Acerbo road race (1924).

- Formula One driver Thierry Boutsen born (1957).

July 14 - Peter Revson, driving a McLaren-Cosworth, wins the British Grand Prix, his first F1 win (1973).

- Adrian Fernandez wins his first CART race, at Toronto, Canada. Fellow driver Jeff Krosnoff and corner marshall Gary Avrin are killed in an accident late in the race (1996).

July 15 - Rudolf Uhlenhaut, Mercedes racing Technical Director in the '30s and '50s, born in England (1906).

- Nigel Mansell announces his retirement from Formula One, but he doesn't follow through (1990).

- The one millionth Porsche rolls off the assembly line (1996).

July 16 - Scott Atchison born (1962).

July 17 - Mario Andretti starts his 400th Indycar race, and finishes fifth (1994).

July 18 - Doug Frazier born (1967).
