a Porsche 718 RS Spyder (1964).
August 10
Alex Zanardi drives a Reynard-Honda to victory in the CART Miller 200
on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, USA (1997).
August 11
The TWR Jaguar XJR-6 makes its race debut in the 1000 km World
Endurance Championship race at Mosport, Ontario, Canada. Manfred
Winklehock is fatally injured in the crash of his 962 during the race
which is won by Derek Bell and Hans Stuck driving a Rothmans Porsche 962
(1985).

Rudolf Hasse, Auto Union Grand Prix driver and winner of the 1937
Belgian Grand Prix, dies in a field hospital from wounds suffered while
fighting on the Eastern Front in WWII (1942).
August 13
Helio Castroneves wins the Miller Lite 200 at Mid-Ohio in Lexington,
Ohio, USA (2001).
August 14
Alan Jones wins the Austrian Grand Prix at Hockenheim in a Shadow DN8.
First F1 win for Jones and for Shadow (1977).

George Follmer drives a Ford-powered Lotus 70 to victory in the USRRC
race at Continental Divide near Castle Rock, Colorado, USA (1965).
