Bernd Rosemeyer drives an Auto Union to victory in the German Grand
Prix on the Nurburgring (1935).
July 27
Mario Andretti enters his first road race. He wins the race at Lime
Rock, Connecticut, USA, driving a front-engined midget. Mark Donohue is
second in a rear-engined midget (1963).
July 28
Ronnie Peterson, driving a Tecno, wins the F3 race on the Djursland
Ring in Denmark (1968).
July 29
Two-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso born in Oviedo, Spain (1981).
July 30
Scott Pruett wins the Marlboro 500 at Brooklyn, Michigan, USA, for his
first CART win. It is also Firestone Tire's first Indycar win after
being away for over 20 years (1995).
July 31
After a team record 58-race draught, Ferrari gets an F1 win, from
pole-sitter Gerhard Berger, in the German GP (1994).
August 1
Allen Berg, open-wheel racer and team owner, born in Vancouver, British
Columbia, Canada (1961).
