The Jo Siffert Racing Team is officially announced at a press conference in Fribourg, Switzerland. the team will field a BRM-powered Brabham BT11 for Jo Siffert to race in F1 and a Brabham BT10 for Franz Dorfinger in F2 (1964).
Bobby Unser drives the "Norton Spirit" Penske-Cosworth to victory in both races of the Trenton Twin Indy at Trenton Speedway in Trenton, New Jersey, USA (1979).
June 11
Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud drive an Alpine-Renault to victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1978).
June 12
Les Graham dies in a crash of his motorcycle during the Isle of Man TT (1953).
June 13
Sir Henry Seagrave sets a new water speed record on Lake Windermere in Great Britain, but dies after crashing at the end of the return run (1930).
June 14
Penske Enterprises acquire Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, USA (1973).
June 15
Mercedes-Benz 300SLs finish 1-2 in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the car of Kling and Riess beating the car of Helfrich and Niedermeyer. First Le Mans win for Mercedes-Benz and first Le Mans win for an enclosed car (1952).
