Lancia Delta S4 Group B rally car crashes into a tree and bursts into
flame during the Tour de Corse rally (1986).
May 3
Jochen Rindt drives a Lotus 69 to victory in the Eifelrennen F2 race on
the Nurburgring in West Germany (1970).
May 4
Peter Collins wins the International Trophy race at Silverstone,
England, driving a Ferrari Dino 246 (1957).

Achille Varzi drives an Auto Union to victory in the Tunis Grand Prix
(1935).

George Follmer drives an AMC Javelin to victory in the SCCA Trans-Am
race at Bryar Park in New Hampshire, USA (1972).

The first organized motorcycle race in the western United States is
