The San Francisco Region of the Sports Car Club of America sanctions the first road race at Pebble Beach on the Monterrey, California, USA, peninsula (1950).

Clay Regazzoni and Brian Redman drive a Ferrari 312PB to victory in the Kyalami 9 Hours race in South Africa. First win for a 312PB. Jackie Ickx and Mario Andretti are second in another 312PB (1971).

Victor Hemery establishes a new speed record at Brooklands of 202.691 kmh in a "Blitzen Benz" (1909).

Bruce McLaren, driving a McLaren M8B-Chevrolet, wins the final Can-Am race of the year, in College Station, Texas, USA. This is Team McLaren's twelfth win in 12 races as Bruce clinches the Can-Am championship (1969).
