A.J. Foyt wins the USAC Championship race on the dirt track at Sacromento,
California, USA (1967).
October 2
Chuck Etchells becomes the first NHRA Funny Car driver to run the quarter
mile in under 5 seconds when he records a 4.987 second pass in Topeka,
Kansas, USA (1993).
October 3
Graham Hill and BRM both win their third consecutive United States Grand
Prix at Watkins Glen, New York. Bob Bondurant participates in his first F1
Grand Prix (1965).
October 4
The Coppa Fagioli hillclimb in Italy is won by Edoardo Lualdi driving a
Ferrari 250 GTO (1964).

Graeme Bailey and Allan Grice drive a Holden Commodore to victory in the
