A tire puncture shortly after passing the start/finish line early in the race put the team behind and they were never able to make up the difference, finishing 10th in class and completing 294 of the race’s 348 laps.

The 8Star FIA World Endurance Championship LMGTE-Am team is currently third in the championship point standings, seven points out of second place and eight points out of the lead.

New 8Star Driver… Davide Rigon, who turned 27 on August 26, will co-drive the No. 81 8Star Motorsports 458 Italia GT2 LMGTE-Am entry with Enzo Potolicchio and Rui Aguas. The young Italian driver has earned five championships: Formula Azzurra in 2005, EuroSeries 3000 and Italian Formula 3000 in 2007, and the Superleague Formula in 2008 and 2010.

8Star Drivers at Interlagos… 8Star Motorsports team owner and co-driver Enzo Potolicchio and 8Star teammate Stephane Sarrazin teamed with Ryan Dalziel to win the LMP2 class and seventh place overall in last year’s Six Hours of São Paulo in the series inaugural stop at Interlagos … It will be the first race at Interlagos for co-drivers Jason Bright and Davide Rigon.

Full Week of Activity… Three practice sessions: Friday, Aug. 30, at 10:05 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 31, at 9:20 a.m. Qualifying takes place Saturday, Aug. 31, at 1:35 p.m. The race is Sunday, Sept. 1, at 11:00 a.m. All times Eastern Time.

Enzo Potolicchio: “We had a great race at Interlagos last year. It was our third win of the season so I’m really looking forward to going back there this year with the 8Star Ferrari. AF Corse changed our driver lineup for this race and is bringing in Davide Rigon to replace Matteo Malucelli so it will be Davide Rigon, Rui Aguas and me.

Rigon tested already with a pro car (LMGTE-Pro) and did really well. He’s won many championships and is an official Ferrari driver so we’re really looking forward to having him on the team. He’s really fast and Ferrari is really keen on winning the LMGTE-Am championship and that’s my goal … for the 8Star Ferrari to win the championship.

Rui and I will be fast like we have all season so we’ll need Rigon to keep the car clean and under control. It’s a six-hour race so it will be very busy. We are still in the championship chase, third in points, and we beat the point leader the two races before Le Mans so we just need to continue to move forward, win races and win the championship.”
