ACEMCO Motorsports ready for Le Mans

June 15, 2006 - American team takes on world's best in classic enduro, the Spring Lake/Michigan-based road racing outfit contest legendary 24 Hour of Le Mans. ACEMCO Motorsports sets out next weekend (17-18 Jun) on the 74th edition of this prestigious race- arguably the toughest motor race still to this day.

Depending on weather conditions in La Sarthe region, the winning car will need to achieve almost 3,500-miles at an average speed of over 130mph around the 8.48-mile track consisting of mainly closed public highways.

Terry Borcheller (USA), Christian Fittipaldi ( Brazil ) and Johnny Mowlem ( UK ) will share driving duties in the round-the-clock encounter. Both Borcheller and Mowlem are in their fourth running of Le Mans . Although Fittipaldi has enjoyed success at the highest level in other formula (F1 and CART/Champ Car), Christian is making his 24 Hour debut.

The 'right' package includes the #66 ACEMCO S7R-developed 7-litre V8 engine, a good aerodynamic set up, race-proven Michelin tires, and an all-star driver line up which includes a mix of experience, youth and international racing success. Each will normally drive in "stints" lasting between one and two hours, at speeds in excess of 200mph, in a capacity, "invited" 50-car entry that caters for four different categories. The #66 car will compete in the class LM GT1.

QUOTES:

Terry Borcheller - Driver:

"We have a chance to win. It makes the experience more exciting. We have a great driver line up, the team is better than ever, the ACEMCO S7R is awesome. We will have to rely on good reliability -- something that we have really worked on - and making sure no one makes any mistakes. We've got the best tires on the track in Michelin and they've got a lot of experience at Le Mans with the circuit so all in all the package should be great.

Johnny Mowlem - Driver:

"I don't believe that we will be the fastest car in qualifying or at certain times in the race but that doesn't mean we cannot win. We have a proven race car that has an engine offering fantastic fuel economy combined with exceptional reliability. I think we're going to be okay and comfortably on the pace. It's going to be a question of running as cleanly as possible, but probably relatively quickly the whole time. You tend to think that because it's a 24 hour race you can run at a lower speed than usual but the level of competition is now at such a level that it's more like a 24 hour sprint race! I'm confident we've got a good package and we know the competition will keep us sharp - the rest is down to us."

Christian Fittipaldi - Driver:

"After Sebring and the Le Mans test, my evaluation has not changed. We have a good chance of winning at Le Mans but we face very tough opposition -- especially in the form of Chevrolet and Aston Martin. Our team proved to be able to work in a really professional and efficient way and I'm confident that we will be able to use all the potential of the ACEMCO S7R. If we do that we'll be looking pretty good. At the test we concentrated on achieving consistently fast laps during a stint as opposed to one-off lap times. We gathered extremely useful data for race. Going to Le Mans for the first time is a special part of my career. It's an event I've always wanted to do, and I've looked forward to having this opportunity. We've got a great car and a good team of people. Now it's down to us and a bit of luck."

Jeffry Giangrande - Team Owner of ACEMCO Motorsports:

" Le Mans , is one of the greatest motorsport events in the world and the 74th will not be an exception. It would be a dream come true for me if ACEMCO could win Le Mans as a 'privateer'. It would also be a tremendous achievement for an American team to win arguably the world's toughest motor race. I believe we have a fantastic opportunity this year - we've a great driver line-up, an excellent team and of course a superb car in the ACEMCO S7R."

The race on the 17th/18th June will be seen by approximately 225,000 spectators, 217 million TV viewers worldwide, and reported on by 2,300 journalists from over 38 nations.
