Archie Hamilton shows strong pace at Le Mans before retirement

Archie Hamilton made his Le Mans 24 Hour race debut this weekend but an accident with a team-mate at the wheel in the ninth hour led to retirement for the #25 G-Drive Racing by Delta-ADR Oreca Nissan.

Archie drove a triple stint starting early evening and lasting over two hours. The car completed 101 laps of the epic circuit. His pace was strong and he was helping to gain ground lost after an early mechanical issue.

“Archie did a great job. His lap times were good. His work in traffic was good. All he needs is more time in the car and he’ll have more speed. He did good. I would most definitely have him back.”

Archie Hamilton:
“It’s a huge disappointment to not make it to the finish but that’s the nature of Le Mans. I’ve loved every minute here and am proud to have driven well. It felt very right and I zoned into the night racing so not getting to drive more than my first session is a real shame. My grandfather may have won here 60 years ago but he drove here nine times to get that one victory. I will do everything I can to be back next year. I can understand my grandfather’s passion and am privileged to have had the opportunity to race here.”
