Crowds flock back to Le Mans as Aston Martin DBR9 retains class lead
As the sun rose and the crowds returned in their thousands to the 24-hour Le Mans endurance race, Aston Martin DBR9 number 58 had increased its GT1 class lead to nearly two minutes and twenty seconds, and retained its seventh position overall.
With fifteen hours gone the car was being driven by Portugal's Pedro Lamy, who was lapping consistently in the 3:55 - 3:58 bracket.
DBR9 number 59 was in the hands of David Brabham, and was fourth in class and tenth overall. It too was running well and lapping consistently.
Pedro said just before his latest stint: "It is most difficult when you drive through the night, as you have no reference points on the track, so I look forward to driving again in daylight."
Team physiotherapist Rene Kacian said: "The drivers are all looking well considering the intense heat earlier in the race. They have all had some rest, but it is difficult for them to sleep for long."
