CREATION ACHIEVE FIRST OBJECTIVES

The Creation Autosportif team achieved all its objectives for the four hours of practice/qualifying here at Le Mans today, despite tricky track and weather conditions. Jamie Campbell-Walter's best time of 4:22.021 placed the Creation CA06/H 5th in the final classification, behind the two Pescarolos and two Audis. He was thwarted in his attempt to improve that time by a torrential downpour in the final minutes of the second session.

All three Creation drivers, Campbell-Walter, Beppe Gabbiani and Felipe Ortiz, had sufficient time in the car to not only complete their three mandatory night laps but also to familiarise themselves with the car in both damp and wet conditions. The car had no major technical issues and no damage.

The Briton, who has replaced Frenchman Nicolas Minassian -- on loan to Pescarolo Sport for the 24 Hour event -- commented: "To be honest it was horrendous out there - very tricky conditions. We managed to improve the car between the two sessions and I was quite lucky I suppose as I only had one car in front of me on my quick lap and that was a Pescarolo. I don't know if Nic was in it but that would have been quite funny. I'm really pleased. I'm here with less than a week's notice and with not much preparation, and we're p5 behind the Pescarolos and Audis in pretty bad conditions. The car is really nice to drive."

This last sentiment was echoed by both Gabbiani and Ortiz. The Italian, who last drove at Le Mans in 2003, said; "My last lap would have been quicker than my others but I made a small mistake. The car is very good in these conditions, comparing it through the corners to the Dome I drove here last. I did not force it and the time was not too bad. I'm happy with today and the car is really very good."

Bolivian born Swiss driver, Felipe Ortiz was equally happy with the day's outcome. "I did about 6 flying laps. I was out when it was wet but not soaking. It was very busy with a lot of traffic as it was in the middle of the session and everyone was doing their mandatory night laps. I didn't try to go very quickly; I just wanted to run in the night and in the wet and it looks very promising. I don't know if it will rain during the race but the car is very good so we are looking good."
