Ginetta LMP1 cars ordered for WEC 2018/19 season
Ginetta has received the first firm order for its new customer LMP1 chassis, ensuring at least two cars are destined for next year’s FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Leeds firm has agreed a deal to supply an as-yet-unnamed team with three of its new, privateer LMP1 chassis. The team plans to field two cars in the 2018/19 WEC and Le Mans, with the third chassis being held as a spare.
Ginetta Cars chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said: “This is a big step forward for the programme, and will be great news too for the FIA WEC and the ACO, who have placed a lot of faith in their new LMP1 regulations.
“For now you’ll have to wait for our customer to make their own announcement on this programme.
"The signs are that they will soon be joined by more Ginetta customers in the top LMP1 class, and that a car conceived in our Yorkshire factory will soon be contesting overall wins in the World Endurance Championship, including at the world’s biggest race, the Le Mans 24 Hours.”
Ginetta is planning a total initial production run of 10 chassis, with the potential for more cars to be built subject to demand. A further six cars are available for sale.
The new chassis are already in build and aerodynamic testing has been ongoing since the summer at Williams’ Formula 1 facility in Grove. Track testing is scheduled to being in November.
