The British team will campaign an Oreca chassis in next year’s WEC season after running a comprehensive test programme with a second Oreca 05-Nissan chassis.

Jota will continue its ELMS programme with the Gibson 015S-Nissan (nee Zytek Z11SN) next year, which will mark its fifth year in the championship.

Jota Group partner Simon Dolan said: “We have been looking very closely at various chassis and I’m delighted to announce our partnership with Oreca."

"The Oreca 05 was quick straight out of the box and just as importantly, has shown remarkable reliability."

Co-partner Sam Hignett feels it is the right time for Jota to move into WEC off the back of success in the Le Mans 24 Hours and ELMS.

“We're looking forward to working closely with Hugues de Chaunac's Oreca operation and racing its fabulous 05 coupe which pipped us to LMP2 class honours at Le Mans this year," said Hignett.

"The time is now right for Jota to step up to a full WEC campaign.

"We'll be talking to drivers in the coming months and plan a comprehensive test programme around the Oreca.

"Jota Sport will continue to contest ELMS with the Gibson which is a great, compact series," he added.

The British squad has contested WEC rounds at Spa and Le Mans alongside its ELMS programme since joining the prototype ranks in 2012.

The team has had success, including a win at WEC Spa 2012 and 2015 in the LMP2 class along with a third place in 2013 and second in 2014.

In addition, Jota won its class at Le Mans in 2014 and was second last year. It has also had three wins in the ELMS to date.
