QUIFEL-ASM Team Ends race just short of podium

Miguel Pais do Amaral took the Quifel-ASM Team's Lola B05/40 AER, in the LMP2 class, to the end of the Le Mans 24 Hour race, finishing in fourth place.

Guy Smith, Miguel Pais do Amaral and Olivier Pla, thus more than managed to fulfil their aim of taking the car to the end of the tough French race, placing 4th in their class, and 20th overall.

The Quifel-ASM fought for third place during the night and early morning, but gearbox issues and unstable weather conditions, required a calmer approach to driving the Lola B05/40 AER.

The Lola B05/40 AER may have driven its last Le Mans 24 Hour race as the Quifel-ASM team is considering buying a more competitive car for next season.

The unstable weather, which continued until the end of the race, required the team keep the wet weather tyres on the car and these proved not to be very effective.
