The FIA World Endurance Championship travels to Silverstone for the 2014 season opener. It’s an exciting first event of the year for the team whose headquarters are located just across the road from the main entrance of the circuit.

LMGTE Pro class driver Matt Griffin will be joined by Alvaro Parente in the No. 52 Ferrari F458 Italia sportscar, whilst Johnny Mowlem will be in the No. 53 sister car with Ben Collins and Mark Patterson contesting the LMGTE Am class.

In the buildup to the event, the team has conducted two full days of testing during ‘The Prologue‘, the official FIA WEC test session at the Circuit Paul Ricard in March. The team was able to get significant track time around the French circuit and complete a comprehensive test programme.

Silverstone is the home of British Motorsport and a current Formula 1 Grand Prix venue. The 3.66 mile circuit is fast and very demanding which will provide a great spectacle for the many thousands of guests and fans expected over the weekend. With 30 cars expected to take to the grid, the competition will be fierce.

Dan Shufflebottom, CEO Ram Racing: “We are all really looking forward to our ‘home’ race at Silverstone, and I’m sure the whole team can count on lots of support from the British fans so it will be a tremendous event for our many guests and supporters. Performance wise, I expect us to be competitive. We had a really positive test at Paul Ricard which, combined with the mega line up of Matt and Alvaro in our Pro car, gives me optimism that we can be in the mix. I am delighted to welcome Ben and Mark to the team, and I look forward to seeing what these two experienced drivers can do with Johnny in our GTE Am entry.”

Matt Griffin, Ram Racing Ferrari 458 Italia No.52: "I'm really looking forward to getting the 2014 WEC underway. I feel like we have had a productive winter test programme and we’re now ready to go. I'm expecting the competition to be very tough though in the GTE Pro class and, even though we will be the only non-factory team, I'm confident we will be right there."

Johnny Mowlem, Ram Racing Ferrari 458 Italia No.53: "It’s been a long winter so I am looking forward to getting the new season underway. There is always something special about racing at Silverstone. Our aim is to run competitively, but you're never really sure of where you are until after the first race. However, I have total faith in RAM Racing and my team-mates Ben and Mark, and we will all be doing everything we can to get the season off to a winning start."
