Robertson Racing on the move as darkness descends at Le Mans

Robertson Racing continue to run strongly at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours with Andrea Robertson back behind the wheel of the #68 Ford GT.

The first quarter of this, the 79th Grand Prix of Endurance, was initially eventful for the team with David Murry lapping strongly before a puncture struck at Arnage corner. Coasting back to the pits in an effort to save further bodywork damage cost valuable time, before two laps were lost at the start of Andrea Robertson’s second stint thanks to a problem with the gearbox’s paddle downshift.

With the problem fixed by switching to the secondary sequential system, the team has enjoyed trouble-free running, Andrea producing consistent times after earlier spending 70 minutes behind the Safety Car. David Robertson has also completed two single runs as the team prepares to begin double stinting through the night.

Le Mans veteran Murry, who scored a GT class podium here ten years ago, was back onboard and running a strong eighth in GTE Am as darkness fell but has now been replaced by Andrea who will have her second lengthy caution period to contend with following another sizeable accident.

Dave Robertson: “We are running with a little handicap as our paddle shift is no longer working and consequently this effects our lap times. Fortunately, when the crew built it, they had the foresight to keep the manual system onboard so we could revert back to it quickly without losing too much time in the pits. We are still in the game, the day is young and we will continue to move up as attrition comes into play.”

Andrew ‘H’ Smith, Team Manager: “So far everybody is doing what they need to do and our pit-stops have been nice and clean. Obviously we have had some issues to deal with but they have been taken care of in good time. The boys are enjoying seeing the car going round without many issues and we are all looking forward to continuing in that vein as we move into the night.”
