Toyota stood at the top of the times when final free practice for this weekend's Shanghai round of the FIA World Endurance Championship was cut short.

#7 Toyota Gazoo Racing Toyota TS050-Hybrid: Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, Jose Maria Lopez
#7 Toyota Gazoo Racing Toyota TS050-Hybrid: Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, Jose Maria Lopez
#54 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GTE: Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci, Miguel Molina
#36 Signatech Alpine A470 Gibson: Gustavo Menezes, Nicolas Lapierre, André Negrão, #26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07 Gibson: Roman Rusinov, Pierre Thiriet, Alex Lynn
Nicki Thiim, TF Sport

Kamui Kobayashi was fastest in the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid on 1m44.888s when the red flags came out with just under 20 minutes of the one-hour session left to run.

The lattice-work concrete inside the corner curbs started to break up at Turn 3, causing debris to be deposited on the track.

Sebastien Buemi was second fastest on a 1m45.166s in the the #8 Toyota when the stoppage came.

The two Porsches were third and fourth fastest, Brendon Hartley's 1m45.529s in the #2 919 Hybrid leading the way for the German manufacturer.

Hartley subsequently pitted early on after experiencing gearshift problems, the car staying in the garage undergoing repairs for the remainder of the session.

G-Drive Racing Oreca-Gibson 07 shared by Nico Muller, Roman Rusinov and Leo Roussel led the LMP2 class with a 1m50.162s.

That put him nearly nine tenths up on the best of the Rebellion Orecas driven by Bruno Senna, Nicolas Prost and Julien Canal.

Aston Martin ended the curtailed session fastest in GTE Pro, as Marco Sorensen became the first GTE driver to break the two-minute barrier with a 1m59.836s aboard the best of the Aston Martin Vantage GTEs.

That was enough to put him six tenths up on the #67 Ganassi Ford GT of Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell, which ended up on a 2m00.451s.

Miguel Molina was fastest in his Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 in the GTE Am class.
