Young Driver AMR adds Nicki Thiim for Sao Paulo

Young Danish talent to debut in Young Driver AMR in Brazil with a brand new Aston Martin Vantage.

Young Danish talent Nicki Thiim will join Young Driver AMR for the fourth round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC). Thiim will share the Young Driver AMR #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, that will be entered by Aston Martin Racing in the 6h of Sao Paulo in Brazil, with fellow countryman Christoffer Nygaard and Kristian Poulsen.

In Brazil, the 24-year young Dane from will take over the seat of Allan Simonsen, who felt victim of tragic accident during the 24h of Le Mans.

"We welcome Nicki Thiim to Young Driver AMR for the Brazilian round of the FIA WEC“, Young Driver AMR´s Jan Struve says. "Obviously Nicki is a great talent and we are delighted that he strengths our all-Danish driver line up for the Brazilian round of the WEC. Nicki tested recently with us and showed great speed in the Aston Martin Vantage GTE.“

Nicki Thiim is the son of legendary Touring Car racer Kurt "Dansky“ Thiim and competes regularly in the German Porsche Carrera Cup as well as in the international Porsche Supercup. He is currently second in both championships. Thiim also made first steps into endurance racing and was part of the Nürburgring 24 hour race winning team in May.

The teammate of Nygaard and Poulsen for the remaining four rounds after the race in Sao Paolo will be announced at a later date.

Young Driver AMR announced recently to continue its FIA WEC campaign in the spirit of Allan Simonsen. “During the past weeks, we received an enormous amount of letters and e-mails to support the family of Allan Simonsen and also Young Driver AMR“, Jan Struve said. "We would like to thank everybody for their kind words and support. There have also been many persons, drivers, teams and also race series all over the world, who started different activities to support the Allan Simonsen Memorial Fund. We deeply thank every person who supports the fund and keeps the memory of Alan Simonsen alive."
