MARION, IN (March 21) -- Andy Hillenburg has definitely startedthe 2001 Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series season in the right fashion.
By taking the checkered flag during TNN's (The National Network) first Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series telecast of the season in Las Vegas, Andy put the Luxaire team on top of the Second Annual RatbagCup championship points race.
The Ratbag Cup is a season-long points battle among the top-10Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series drivers from the 2000 season, andpoints can only be accrued during the 18 Pennzoil World of OutlawsSeries telecasts on TNN. Ratbag, the Australian-based software companythat developed the smash-hit "Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars -- TheOfficial Video Game of the World of Outlaws," is offering a $120,000prize pool for the competitors this season. The 2001 Ratbag Cupchampion will take $25,000 home from the Pennzoil World of OutlawsSeries banquet following the season finale in Las Vegas.
Sammy Swindell won the Ratbag Cup in 2000 by having the bestaverage finishing position in all TV events after the Cup wasannounced at the inaugural event at Bristol Motor Speedway last June.It was a close battle with Steve Kinser that went down to the finallaps of the 2000 finale in Las Vegas.
The Ratbag Cup's next event will be TNN's telecast of the SecondAnnual Southern Bleacher Classic from Texas Motor Speedway March 29-30.
New entries to the 2001 Ratbag Cup are Joey Saldana, Dale Blaneyand Jac Haudenschild. They replace Donny Schatz, Tim Shaffer and JeffSwindell, who failed to finish in the top 10 in the 2000 PennzoilWorld of Outlaws Series point standings.
