CLOSEST PENNZOIL WORLD OF OUTLAWS BATTLE RETURNS TO BLOOMINGTON

BLOOMINGTON, IN (September 28, 1998) - The closest championship battle in the history of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws returns to Bloomington Speedway Wednesday night. After two rainouts this summer, the Outlaws will make their final racing stop in Indiana, before heading to Williams Grove and the remaining events.

Following a full weekend of competition in Nebraska, the King of the Outlaws, Bloomington's Steve Kinser, has his increased his lead to 85 points over Sammy Swindell. If Steve wins the series title, it will be his 15th Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship, but his first as a car owner.

Oolitic's Mark Kinser is only 27 points behind Swindell, and Stevie Smith trails Mark by just 9 points. Only 123 points separate the top four, and each feels they have a good shot at the title. But they know that they have to make the most out of each remaining event. All four are proven winners, only Mark Kinser has not won a World of Outlaws feature on Bloomington's quarter-mile.

All grandstand gates will open for the Pennzoil World of Outlaws at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, September 30. Ticket stubs from June 12 and July 15 will be honored. General admission tickets will be on sale for $25. Pit admission is $30, the pit gate will open at 3 pm. Fans 12 and under will be charged $5 when accompanying an adult. Hot laps and qualifying begin at 6:30. The open wheel modified division will compete for $500 to win.
