Tough weekend sees Lasoski trade point lead once again.
"The Dude" slips back to second despite two more top-10 finishes.

CONCORD, NC (May 22, 2002) -- The Tony Stewart Motorsports World of Outlaw team has been right near the top of the championship point standings all season long. They have found themselves on top of the chart on many occasions and other times in the shadows of the point leader. Despite not having the greatest weekend in the result column, defending Pennzoil World of Outlaw champion Danny "The Dude" Lasoski kept his number-20 J.D. Byrider team right in the hunt heading into one of the series biggest weekends. Three races in four days resulted in two more top-10 finishes for "The Dude" and put him just two points behind leader Steve Kinser.

"Despite not being up front in the points, we are right where we need to be heading into this very important weekend in Charlotte," said Lasoski. "The Tony Stewart Motorsports / J.D. Byrider team and Crew Chief Jimmy Carr have been giving me great cars all season long and the point fight will take care of itself. We really want to focus on this coming weekend in Charlotte and pull out all of the stops.

"We didn't have the best of results this past weekend, but that is fine; maybe we got all of that bad luck out of our system and we will go and burn up the track at the Lowe's Dirt Track. The last time we raced in conjunction with the NASCAR Winston Cup series was in Talladega and we cleaned up. I really think we can repeat that performance again. This is big for us, because (team owner) Tony Stewart will be on hand to watch our progress. He is great to have and has given me a great opportunity and I need to prove to him that he made the right choice."

Lasoski will look to turn the results around heading into this Friday and Saturday's XM Satellite Radio Outlaw Showdown at the Lowe's Dirt Track in Concord, NC (just outside of Charlotte). In three races last week, "The Dude" collected a best finish of fifth. He scored two top-10 finishes last week.

It started on Wednesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA, where Lasoski qualified fifth. He made it through both the heats and the dash before coming home 15th in the feature. The series moved to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA for what was suppose to be two nights of action, but once again, Mother Nature's acts forced the cancellation of the feature night's program.

During the preliminary night, Lasoski once again qualified fifth and finished third in both his heat and the dash races. He started the feature in fifth and didn't move up or down after the 25-lap feature ended. A fifth place finish would be the final result at the historic PA track.

Finally the series headed to Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on Saturday night. Despite not qualifying well, Lasoski won his heat race and finished 10th in the "A" feature. The 10th place finish dropped him to second in the point standings, only two markers behind Kinser.

So, after 21 events, Lasoski has recorded four "A" feature wins, 15 top-fives and a series leading 18 top-10s. He has won more than $114,000. Lasoski also leads the series with six fast qualifying times.
