SCHATZ WINS OUTLAWS RACE AT LOWE'S; SIDES WINS AT TRI CITY

FRANKLIN, PA. (June 1, 2010) -- Donny Schatz and Jason Sides won World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series features during the Memorial Day Weekend.

Donny Schatz retook the lead with three laps remaining, then won a side-by-side battle to win the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown on The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. It was the second win of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car season for Schatz.

Sides slipped by Steve Kinser on the ninth lap and spent the remainder of the race fending off challenges from Kinser, winning at Tri City Speedway in Franklin, Pa.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the rear wheel positions for the series and is the Official Tire of the Series. The front wheel positions are open to competition between tiremakers.

Schatz led the Lowe's race on the 25th lap but was passed while working traffic by Joey Saldana. Saldana led lap 26 but Schatz retook the lead on the next trip around the 4/10-mile oval. The two raced side-by-side toward the finish but Schatz led the final laps. It was the 102nd Outlaws win of Schatz' WoO career.

Saldana finished second by .775 of a second, followed by Lucas Wolfe, Kinser and Danny Lasoski. Sam Hafertepe Jr. won turned in the fastest lap during time trials with a lap of 110.786 mph.

Sides' victory at the half-mile Pennsylvania facility came on a night when there were no caution flags to slow the main event proceedings. The race was over in less than nine minutes.

Kinser finished second, followed by Dale Blaney, Wolfe and Schatz. There were 34 entries and Blaney posted the fastest lap in time trials, averaging 113.565 mph.

Saldana leads the championship standings with 2,983 points Kinser is next with 2,965.
