World of Outlaws Sprint Series Invading North Dakota for Three Nights in 2006

Norman, OK -- Feb. 3, 2006 -- The World of Outlaws Sprint Series is excited to announce it will compete three times this season in North Dakota.

After winning eight events in Australia this winter, the hottest sprint car driver on the planet right now is North Dakota native Donny Schatz. He'll steer the Mean 15 racers into his home track, Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., for a two-day event June 16-17. Then, following the Knoxville Nationals and a World of Outlaws event on Aug. 17 at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., Schatz returns to 3/8-mile high-banked Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D., the town where Schatz was born and raised and where the Outlaws will compete for the first time in the series' 29-year history.

"I've spent a long time racing in Fargo, I raced there every week when I started, and obviously Minot is where I'm from so to race at both of them is an absolute pleasure," said Schatz, who now resides in Fargo and who won eight main events and a preliminary feature in 2005 with the World of Outlaws. "It's really neat to be able to get that caliber of racing to Minot's racetrack."

Last season at Red River Valley Speedway, an entire section of the grandstands was jammed with Donny Schatz supporters decked in the black and gold ParkerStore colors that adorn his J&J Chassis. It's that support that has driven Schatz to become one of the elite sprint car racers in the world.

"It's phenomenal, there is no better feeling," Schatz says of the cheers from his hometown fans. "The racing isn't all about the drivers or the promoters, it's a two-way street and the fans need to have some enjoyment, too. Without the fans, there really isn't the wont to race. They're what make the show exciting through their cheering. It's fun to see that atmosphere, and it's the greatest atmosphere in the country for me to go to because of the local support. We hope we can have that same support again."

Half-mile Red River Valley Speedway, sitting on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, first opened its gates to the World of Outlaws in 1981. Mean 15 racer Craig Dollansky established Red River's single-lap record of 14.786 seconds on July 4, 2002.

Nodak Speedway's 3/8-mile high-bank oval is at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot, where the 850-horsepower World of Outlaws machines will blaze to speeds that circuit has never seen.

"The World of Outlaws have a rich history at Red River Valley Speedway so I'm very pleased we were able to adjust our racing schedule to meet the entertainment needs of the Red River Valley Fair and bring the World of Outlaws to Fargo in 2006," said DIRT MotorSports Vice President and CFO Brian Carter. "I also know the fans -- and Donny -- have been waiting a long time for the Outlaws to race at Minot so I'm equally excited to finally make that happen, too."

Schatz is only one member of the impressive lineup of drivers competing in the 2006 World of Outlaws Sprint Series Mean 15, which also includes 2005 top-10 racers Craig Dollansky, Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl and Brooke Tatnell, along with returning Outlaws stars Jac Haudenschild, Randy Hannagan and Dion Hindi as well as the Woodring Racing team featuring long-time sprint car star Kenny Jacobs and rookie Becca Anderson.

Many of sprint car racing's newest stars also are featured in the 2006 Mean 15, including Jeremy Campbell, who comes to the Outlaws after a successful run with the All Star Circuit of Champions series; Brian Carlson, who is a respected long-time racer and former World of Outlaws competitor; Justin Henderson, who has starred as a weekly racer at historic Knoxville Raceway and Huset's Speedway; Chad Kemenah, who earned his first Outlaws victory in 2005 while also capturing his fourth consecutive All Star title; and Jason Martin, who is only 23 but already has 57 wins in his career with several series.
