(Pevely, MO) March 7, 2001 -- I-55 Raceway kicks off the 2001 racing season in a big way on March 24th when the Pennzoil World of Outlaws make their first of two visits. This is the earliest stop ever at I-55 Raceway for the Outlaws and last year's race winner Jac Haudenschild hopes to return to victory lane. Haudenschild's victory was miraculous considering he hit the front straightaway wall, did a complete three sixty, and continued on without ever stopping. Haudenschild will have plenty of competition as defending World of Outlaw's season champion Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell and Missouri's own Danny Lasoski will be looking for victory as well.

The UMP Open Wheel Modified division will join the World of Outlaws in action. Defending track champion Scott Weber returns to defend his title. Fifty-one UMP Open Wheel Modifieds competed in last year's event during the World of Outlaw show.

Tickets are available by calling (636) 479-3219. Reserved seats (top 10 rows) are $32, general admission is $30 and as always, general admission for kids twelve and under is FREE. Tickets will also be available at the gate the day of the race. Gates open at 4 PM and racing starts at 6 PM.

I-55 Raceway is located in Pevely, MO., 20 minutes south of St. Louis on I-55. To get to the track take I-55 to Missouri Hwy Z, then east on Hwy Z till US Hwy 61/67, then go south on US Hwy 61/67 two miles to Herky-Horine Rd., then go 1 mile west on Herky-Horine Rd to the track. For directions and more information on the 2001 season at I-55 Raceway, visit their website at www.i55raceway.com.
