Outlaws to sanction 20th annual Eagle Nationals.

EAGLE, NE (June 26) -- Steve Kinser regained the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series points lead last June 22nd when he won the Eagle Nationals before the largest crowd in the history of Eagle Raceway.

"The King of the Outlaws" was the third different leader in the exciting, 40-lap "A" Feature that featured four lead changes. Kinser passed first preliminary feature winner Craig Dollansky high in the fourth corner late in the 17th lap en route to his ninth Eagle Nationals championship.

The defending and 17-time series champion would like history to repeat itself this weekend when the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series sanctions the 20th Annual Eagle Nationals. Kinser has finished higher than point standings leader Danny Lasoski in nine of the last 10 "A" Features, and enters the 34th event of the series' 25th Anniversary Season only 31 points out of first place. Kinser won his series-leading 12th main event of the year Monday at Farmer City Raceway.

"One thing about winning races is, it never gets old," the 48-year-old Kinser said following the 483rd victory of his career. "It's a good feeling every time you win no matter how many you win. We had a pretty good car all night. When the night goes right, everything looks easy, but it's never easy with these guys. One little mistake and you fall back a couple of positions."

Lasoski, who won the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series championship in 2001, isn't concerned about the points race.

"Steve won a lot this past week, but we were never too far behind him," Lasoski said Wednesday. "Consistency is such a big thing in this series. If you can't win, you have to finish well, and we did that for the most part. Obviously, winning is why we're here, but you can't win 'em all.

"I'm not even paying attention to the points, to be honest. There's still such a long way to go. We know what we need to do -- win races and run strong. Paul Kistler has been building some awesome motors for us -- 16 fast times prove that. With what he's giving us and the work that Jimmy and the crew are putting into this J.D. Byrider/Home Depot/Mopar team, it allows me to go into every race with a lot of confidence.

"We have another big race this weekend with the Eagle Nationals. The fans love their sprint car racing out there, and we plan on putting on another good show for them."

Paul McMahan will be racing to extend his hot streak and continue his climb in the point standings. Seven straight top-10 finishes, including four top-four finishes and a victory in the last five events, have pushed the new driver of the #11H Vivarin Maxim into ninth place in the point standings.

Eagle Raceway owner Craig Cormack has increased the purses of the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series events at his high-banked, 1/3-mile oval by 25 percent this season. The Eagle Nationals and the 1/3-Mile Short Track Nationals scheduled for September 19-20 will pay $15,000 to the winners and $1,500 to start the Saturday "A" Features. The preliminary programs' "B" Features will pay a minimum of $200 per car. Each car will be guaranteed $350 to start the "B" Feature in the feature programs.

The Sprint Car Network, the official radio network of the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series, will broadcast the action from the Eagle Nationals, beginning at 8:00 Central Time each evening.

SCN will broadcast 26 World of Outlaws events over 46 dates this season. SCN Radio's live broadcasts can be heard on many radio stations nationwide and on its web site, located at www.sprintcarnet.com.
