World of Outlaws Northwest Tradition Grows with 2006 Event at Skagit Speedway

Norman, OK -- Dec. 21, 2005 -- For the past 12 years, the World of Outlaws Sprint Series has raced its way through the Pacific Northwest in late August. That tradition will continue in 2006 as the greatest collection of sprint car racers in the world will have a homecoming at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.

DIRT MotorSports in conjunction with Funtime Promotions is excited to announce the return of the World of Outlaws to its original home track in the Northwest for a two-night, $25,000-to-win event Aug. 25-26. The Outlaws last raced at Skagit in 2002.

"Skagit is the anchor of the Northwest swing for the Outlaws," said Paul A. Kruger, DIRT Chairman and CEO. "And we are excited to be working with Steve Beitler, who is a respected promoter as well as owner of this premier family-oriented facility."

Beitler, Skagit's owner and promoter as well as a long-time World of Outlaws competitor who was honored in 1992 by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame's North America Sprint Car Poll for his Outstanding Contribution to the sport, has worked hard to bring the Outlaws back to the 3/10-mile high-banked oval.

"With the caliber of race teams in the area, this will be a competitive homecoming for the World of Outlaws Sprint Series," said DIRT MotorSports VP of Race Operations Shane Carson. "The late Jim Raper truly had a vision and Steve Beitler has continued to build on that."

Skagit Speedway, which supports 410 sprint cars on a weekly basis, was part of the inaugural Outlaws season in 1978. Beitler is thrilled his efforts to return the series to the facility have paid off.

"The World of Outlaws has always been special to me," Beitler said. "Having raced with them full-time for more than six years, and now promoting an event for them, that's quite an honor. I appreciate the effort put forth by the teams following this series. I wanted to make this event special, so I put up $25,000 to win. That'll definitely make it interesting.

"After meeting with Dirt MotorSports last summer, I was very impressed with their business plan, and hiring Shane Carson was the best thing they could do. He has a solid reputation as a driver, promoter and businessman.

"The fans and racers of Skagit Speedway deserve to have the World of Outlaws at their home track. I am looking forward to a long and successful relationship."

DIRT MotorSports and the World of Outlaws Sprint Series continue to shape the 2006 schedule and look forward to the series' 29th year of bringing the best collection of sprint car racers from coast to coast for what will no doubt be one of the most competitive seasons in series history.
